The Sime Darby Employee’s Children’s Education Excellence Awards (ECEEA) was introduced in 2001 to recognise and reward the outstanding academic achievements of Sime Darby employees’ children. It is part of the Group’s effort to demonstrate appreciation for employees who have successfully encouraged their children to excel in their studies.

Since its inception, over 1,000 students have received the awards with some recipients going on to win Sime Darby scholarships as well.

Formerly, the programme was exclusively for Malaysian Sime Darby employees. 2009 marks the first year that the ECEEA is launched in Singapore. Eventually, the vision is to include eligibility for all of Sime Darby’s employees, both Malaysia and its overseas operations. The initiative will expand in stages.

In 2007, Sime Darby’s Group Human Resources introduced the concept, ‘Nurturing Passion towards Excellence’ for the ECEEA initiative. The theme serves as a motivator for children to further their academic pursuits whilst at the same time acknowledging the indispensable role of the parent in ensuring this.
