- Managing Director – Industrial Division
Mr Dean Mehmet, 59, an Australian, is the Managing Director of Sime Darby Industrial, the Industrial Division of Sime Darby Berhad. He was appointed on 1 July 2021. Prior to that, he was the Managing Director of Sime Darby Industrial - Australasia.
Mr Mehmet joined the Sime Darby Group in 2012, as the Chief Operating Officer at Hastings Deering (Australia) Limited. He was later promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Hastings Deering Group where he led the entire industrial business portfolio across Australia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia.
His key responsibilities include developing and executing organisational strategy with safety at its core, managing the operations of almost 11,000 employees across seventeen countries and over 140 business centres, building strategic, long-term relationships with customers and suppliers to establish Sime Darby Industrial’s businesses as trusted business partners and actively contribute to the communities in which we live and work.
Mr Mehmet has more than 38 years’ industry experience and has held Chief Executive Leadership roles for the past 18 years including experience at BlueScope Steel and Royal Dutch Shell.
Mr Mehmet holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honors) degree from the Queensland University of Technology, has completed the Stamford University Executive Programme and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
