Our Reach for Potential – Scholarship Programme
If you want to join a team of passionate, energetic and dynamic individuals who are shaping and influencing the future of our Group you should consider applying for a scholarship. We sponsor promising young talent wishing to undertake their pre-university, undergraduate and post-graduate studies in local or foreign universities.
Our scholarships will be offered to well-rounded Malaysian candidates who have attained
excellent academic achievements, who demonstrate outstanding
leadership qualities and potential and who devote
time to make an impact to the community through their extra-curricular
activities.
We offer a comprehensive sponsorship and full time employment upon completion of studies. Overall, the sponsorship covers the following:
- Full academic fees
- Subsistence Allowances
- Books/Equipment Allowances
- Relevant miscellaneous allowances
We receive all applications ONLINE, so if you think you have what it takes to be our scholar, please be on the lookout for our sponsorship adverts in the months of March and November of every year.
Managing Our Team in Sime Darby

Ensuring a Healthy Pipeline
Talent readiness and availability at every level within the Group is a priority to ensure business continuity. It is for this reason that we place considerable importance to succession management and planning. Preparing successors is the responsibility of every manager. At the Group level we take every effort to ensure leaders are aware of their strengths and areas for development in order for them to be able to constantly improve their skills and capabilities not only from a technical perspective, but more importantly from a leadership point of view.
Development opportunities are given to leaders in order to prepare them for future roles. These opportunities come in the form of rotational / short term assignments, on-job-training, coaching / mentoring and formal classroom training.
Developing Our People
Our commitment to people development is evidenced through the deployment of a wide variety of training interventions which have the main objective of providing employees at different levels with the knowledge and skills that are essential to enable them to succeed in their current roles or to prepare them to take over bigger responsibilities.
In addition to our formal and internally developed classroom training events, we encourage our people to identify and attend external courses with the primary objective of enabling them not only to acquire additional knowledge, but most importantly to give them the opportunity to enhance their network and get to understand current best practices in the market. Providing this exposure to our employees ensures that they are always well equipped with up-to-date knowledge, information and skills which will directly have a positive impact in their ability to contribute effectively to the success of our business.
It is important to note that all internal trainings are conducted in our own Business School, which has been equipped with latest technology and state of the art facilities to enable learning in a conducive environment.
Some of the facilities in our Business School include:
- Auditorium: with a seating capacity of 200 people and fully equipped with video conferencing facilities;
- Training rooms: with seating capacity ranging from 20 to 200 participants;
- Breakout rooms: with seating capacity of 10 people
- Facilitator room: fully equipped with desktops, TV/audio, fax and telephone;
- Computer lab / language lab: equipped with 40 computers.
- Resource centre: fully equipped for research, with desktop, photocopy machine, management business books etc.
- Business lounge: including cable TV.
- Gymnasium: a mini gym to let the health conscious exercise and keep up with their daily routine.
- Pantry: A fully equipped pantry to make your special cup of coffee or tea.

Work-Life Balance
Balance is key!
Despite the demanding and challenging business objectives and strategies we have set for ourselves, the Group recognises the importance of supporting employees so they can achieve the right balance between their professional and personal lives.
We encourage our employees to participate in competitive activities. To support this, we organise a variety of sporting events throughout the year. These activities see teams representing business divisions and/or geographical regions. All this come together during the Group Games which are held every 2 years. It sees the Divisions of the Group demonstrating their excellence to win the Group’s prestigious trophy.
Besides promoting healthy living among the employees, the Group also acknowledges the employees’ families via various gathering and family days.
In addition to the above-mentioned events, we also participate in national events like the annual Merdeka parades and Labour Day Assembly.
