Lean Six Sigma

Objective
Our framework for LSS culture and governance, projects identification, strategy implementation and capacity building aims to deliver RM 775 million of accumulated benefits by FY2017.
Progress
 
Successfully achieved RM208.99 million of actual benefits for FY2015, which exceeded the RM100 million target for the year. Total accumulated benefit achieved since 2013 is RM 360.48 million.

Approach
At Sime Darby, LSS involves creating groups of trained and motivated employees to carry out projects according to a set of steps to achieve specific financial savings targets. Group and Divisional-level Business Management Strategy Blueprints outline our approach to achieving targeted LSS benefits over a five-year target period. We have strongly invested in internal training programmes to build the LSS capacity of our employees.

Robust processes have been put in place to ensure projects are well scoped, planned, monitored and benefits quantified. Our Group-level LSS team developed and manages these processes and supports the Divisions in capacity building, training and the provision of technical support on key projects.
LSS CHAMPIONS
Our senior managers are trained as LSS Champions to provide leadership and support to our overall LSS approach. LSS Champion Workshops provide our Champions with insights on how LSS supports the business and their roles and responsibilities as a Champion. Champions also learn how to identify, select and prioritise LSS projects and to support their deployment.
