Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDHC) officially opened its first hospital today – ParkCity Medical Centre (PMC), located in Desa Park City, an affluent district about 10km from the Kuala Lumpur city centre.
RSDHC, is the culmination of a joint venture between Sime Darby Healthcare and Australia’s largest private hospital group, Ramsay Health Care Limited.
The new hospital will set the momentum for RSDHC’s expansion strategy to spread its wings in Asia and reach its target of doubling the number of hospitals within three to five years. Currently, RSDHC operates three hospitals in Malaysia and another three in Indonesia. The focus will be to expand the healthcare business to Vietnam, China and other parts of Asia.
YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia officiated the opening of the hospital and launched the new logo of the joint venture company in a memorable event witnessed by the RSDHC’s board of directors, management, doctors, staff and invited guests.
The RM320 million 300-bed state-of-the-art hospital was completed in July 2012 by Perdana ParkCity, the developer of the township and in September 2012, together with the adjoining carpark block, was bought over by Sime Darby Healthcare.
Strategically located in one of the latest urban townships in Greater Kuala Lumpur, the medical centre is nestled in the northwest quadrant of Klang Valley and surrounded by residential areas such as Sierramas, TTDI, Damansara Perdana, Mont Kiara, Bandar Manjalara and Bandar Utama.
With the estimation that the population of the corridor, within a six to 10 kilometre radius of PMC, growing to more than one million in three years, PMC is well poised to serve and meet the healthcare needs of the community in the area.
PMC, which began operations in December 2012 is a multi-disciplinary hospital offering full inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services, advanced diagnostics and 24 hours emergency services. Specialising in women, children and elderly healthcare services, it is also equipped with advanced medical technology such as digital mammogram with tomosynthesis and low dose CT scan which is safe for children.
The hospital has also taken the lead in pioneering a new Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) - a paperless data retrieval system which provides a seamless flow of data for better clinical management and faster patient service, promoting a more effective and efficient workflow. Based on its commitment to the system’s implementation and execution, RSDHC was awarded the Frost & Sullivan Award 2013 in “Excellence in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Implementation”.
In his opening speech, Chairman of Sime Darby Group, Dato’ Abdul Ghani Othman said, with over 28 years of excellence in healthcare in Malaysia, the opening of PMC is a testament of RSDHC’s commitment to become the brand of choice for quality healthcare services not only in Malaysia but in the region.
“Statistics have shown that by 2018, the Asia Pacific region will be populated by over 2.3 billion people above 65 years of age, requiring quality medical attention and care. With both Sime Darby Healthcare’s and Ramsay Health Care’s experience, we are confident that PMC will fulfill this need and make its mark as a regional centre of excellence for women, children and elderly medical care,” said Dato’ Abdul Ghani.
Dato’ Abdul Ghani also said that the rapid growth of the middle-class population in Asia will help spur the expansion of the group’s healthcare services into new markets, making RSDHC the region’s leading healthcare player through an unrivalled portfolio of top notch hospitals.
“RSDHC will bank on Ramsay Health Care’s vast operational and cross border healthcare industry experience coupled with Sime Darby’s familiarity with operating businesses in the Asian region. We will extend our full support to ensure the continuity and growth of our healthcare business in line with our stakeholders’ expectations,” he added.

RSDHC will combine all Sime Darby’s portfolio of healthcare assets in Malaysia with Ramsay’s three hospitals in Indonesia. Sime Darby has three hospitals in Malaysia, namely Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC), Ara Damansara Medical Centre (ADMC) and ParkCity Medical Centre (PMC). The group also operates a nursing and health sciences college. The three Indonesian hospitals under the Ramsay Health Care are RS Premier Jatinegara and RS Premier Bintaro and RS Premier Surabaya.
