In recognition of their outstanding work, two Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd (SDISB) employees recently received the Most Valuable Player Award from Caterpillar Energy Solutions.
Wong Kim Seng from the sales team and Shanjiv Steven Kanagalingam from the after-sales team successfully increased SDISB’s Biogas Genset market share in Malaysia, from 2% in 2019 to 22% in 2020. Rising to meet the challenges of the very competitive Biogas market, they successfully improved the company’s Biogas Genset sales and overall customer satisfaction levels in Malaysia.
We could not have achieved this if not for our good relationship with the principal and customers. As such, even though things may get tough, we should never give up nor waiver in providing our best services and support to our customers.

The Biogas Genset is a relatively new product segment for both SDISB and Caterpillar. SDISB sold its first unit of Biogas Genset in 2014.
Wong, who joined the sales team in 2014, credits the whole project team and after-sales support team for the success. Shanjiv, who joined in 2018, echoes this sentiment.
“There were many challenges in 2017 and 2018 due to technical issues. However, we worked closely with the respective team members; SDISB sales team, project team, after-sales support team and Caterpillar to overcome all the challenges to achieve this fantastic result in 2020.”
