Sime Darby Berhad 9 Months Net Profit at RM1.2 billion

An 89 Per Cent Jump in Net Profit 

Sime Darby Berhad reported an 89 per cent increment in net profit for the nine-months ended 31 March 2021 (9M FY2021) while net profit for the Group’s third quarter ended 31 March 2021 (Q3 FY2021) increased to RM300 million compared with RM115 million for the same period last financial year (Q3 FY2020). Net profit for the quarter more than doubled, underpinned by the strong performance of the Motors division, particularly in China.

Sime Darby Berhad Disposes 11 per cent Stake in E&O for RM93.5 million

Sime Darby Berhad (Sime Darby) today announced that its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Sime Darby Nominees Sendirian Berhad has entered into a share sale agreement with Amazing Parade Sdn Bhd to divest its 10.89 per cent stake in Eastern & Oriental Berhad (E&O) for RM93.5 million.

Sime Darby Berhad Q2 Net Profit More Than Doubles to RM633 million

Special dividend announced on one-off gain of RM272 million from the sale of Tesco Malaysia stake 

Sime Darby Berhad reported a net profit of RM633 million for the Group’s second quarter ended 31 December 2020 (Q2 FY2021), more than double of that reported in the second quarter ended 31 December 2019 (Q2 FY2020). The results were attributable to a RM272 million net gain from the sale of its 30 per cent stake in Tesco Malaysia and a robust performance from the Group’s Motors division.

Sime Darby Berhad Q1 Net Profit Up 14 per cent to RM281 million

Sime Darby Berhad reported a net profit of RM281 million for the Group’s first quarter ended 30 September 2020 (Q1 FY2021), a 14.2 per cent increase from its first quarter ended 30 September 2019 (Q1 FY2020), on strong growth in the Group’s Motors division, particularly in China.

Revenue for the first quarter was up 14.8 per cent at RM10.9 billion, while profit before interest and tax (PBIT) was 17.6 per cent higher year-on-year (YoY) at RM447 million.

Sime Darby Berhad reported a net profit of RM820 million for the financial year ended 30 June 2020 (FY2020), despite challenging market conditions brought about by the coronavirus outbreak in the second half of the financial year.

Sime Darby Berhad Appoints Tan Sri Samsudin Osman as Chairman

Sime Darby Berhad (SDB) today announced the appointment of Non-Independent Non-Executive Director Tan Sri Samsudin Osman as Chairman, effective immediately. This follows his previous appointment as the Group’s Acting Chairman in June 2020.

Tan Sri Samsudin is Permodalan Nasional Berhad’s nominee director. 

Tan Sri Samsudin, 73, has served SDB as a member of the Board since December 2008.  He was the Chief Secretary to the Malaysian Government from 2001 to 2006 and Chairman of the Employees Provident Fund Board for 13 years, until his retirement earlier this year.
